Zachary Xavier is a filmmaker and film scholar. He was born in Brisbane, raised in Hong Kong, and currently resides in Sydney.
On this website, you can find Zachary's film portfolio, and subscribe to 'Cinema Scholar', a fortnightly newsletter highlighting cinema and its study. In addition to Cinema Scholar, you can find longer form articles relating to concepts in film studies, analyses of films, and Zachary's experience successfully applying to masters’ programs at both the University of Oxford and the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS). Much of this work also exists in video format, which Zachary shares on his YouTube channel.
These endeavours extend from Zachary's education as a film scholar. In 2020, he graduated from the University of Oxford with a MSt in Film Aesthetics. He also holds a BA(Hons) in Film Studies from the University of New South Wales. His academic writing has appeared in the peer-reviewed journal, Film-Philosophy.
